A message from our founder
“Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13
The essence of Christianity is sacrificial love. Jesus gave himself for us and no disciple is greater than his master. His call to true discipleship remains as stark and vigorous today as when Peter and Andrew, and James and John laid down their nets to follow the Carpenter. Nothing has changed in the last 2,000 years.
Today, in the 21st century, where can a true disciple serve? Almost anywhere. But some places and some peoples are especially needy. We believe that Betel International is a doorway into ‘daring Christian service’ among some of the most neglected and marginalized people groups in the world.
I would challenge you to consider short and long-term service with us in Betel. As you peruse our literature, web pages and the details of our volunteer and internship programs, I believe that many will be truly inspired to consider radical Christian discipleship in the Betel family—and daring to dare, pass through that portal with us in costly sacrifice.
“Verily I say unto you, there is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the Gospel’s, but he shall receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.” Mark 10:29-31
